Designing for Work Environments, Service Design for Physical Space
What went into designing the space you work within? Is your space more open? Contained? How is the lighting? The sound level? Are there plants? What is the flow like as you enter the area, go make coffee, or locate a meeting room? Do you have a dedicated desk? Depending on where you work you may feel as though the space is well thought through and smartly mapped out or… you may feel as though it is the opposite and that there are some major misses.
The NYC Service Design Collective is thrilled to have teammates Jinghang Huang and Antonio Iadarola run a workshop around the design the places that we spend so much time inhabiting. They will show practical methods and research initiatives on the Future of Work and workplace design. It is also our first event to build a program that focuses on the intersection of spatial and strategic design. More to come on that!
This event is dedicated to discussing the relationship between organizational strategies and the design of work environments. Most of the spaces we use for work aim at supporting collaboration and host more and more external stakeholders interactions. New innovation spaces, exhibits and many forms of outreach programs are nowadays part of our workplaces. In these environments workers act as both providers and users of the space, interchanging roles and personal experiences.
